Possible OCD : You may fave obsessive compulsive disorder . You perform ritualistic  behaviors to ward off certain phobic worries . Very treatable with medication and cognitive behaviorsl therapy. See your doctor.

Talk to surgeon: If this developed suddenly and was not present after his surgery, please call his surgeon right away or take him to an emergency room.  If this is how he's been behaving since the surgery, then you need to talk to his doctor about this and get an explanation.

Culturalsignificance: The definition of "abnormal" behavior means behavior outside the norm. As far as diagnosis, i presume you are referring to mental illness. Behavior is certainly important in the diagnosis of mental illness, but thinking process, thought content, mood, and affect are important for diagnosis and are more independent of culture. Not all "abnormal" behavior results in a "diagnosis.".

If he self -injures: I wonder if he only has adhd. If he isn't already seeing a child psychiatrist or child psychologist - would very much recommend this. Children are complex ; can be difficult to assess. You really want someone experienced to formally assess him. Take care.

2nd opinion: Absolutely, one should obtain a 2 nd opinion if in doubt about any diagnosis. Make sure you are seeing a psychiatrist who is board certified. You should probably decide ahead of time what you will do if the second dr agrees with the first dr, and what if the diagnosis is different. Will you seek a 3rd opinion?

Behavoir problems: An experienced pediatrician can begin a work-up of a child with behavior problems.  Depending on the severity of the issues with the child, a psychiatrist or psychologist may also need to be involved.  If autism is suspected, then a developmental expert at a pediatric hospital can provide helpful information to discover why a child and family are struggling with certain behaviors.

Behavior Problems: Please do not self-diagnose Bipolar Disorder.  It is a very popular diagnosis and can only be validly diagnosed by a mental health professional.  It can be managed well w/medication and therapy but there are other possibilities in terms of diagnosis.  Peace and good health.

Bipolar?: All psychiatric diagnosis r provisional , bipolar can be often misdiagnosed as depression, resulting sometime in wrong treatments for 10 years , mood d/o questionnaire  can help physician make the correct diagnoses.

Constipation?: Each person with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, then the things to try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber-with-water, polyethylene glycol, Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, other laxatives... A doctor can evaluate and maybe prescribe helpful medicines too.
