Time: Most patients will see a slow decrease in the loss of the moon fascies patients get after taking streoids. Unfortunately, the changes come on faster then they will decrease. Watch your diet and try to exercise both of which will help.

There is more to: this than the tests that you mentioned.  There a number of labs to consider and there is such a thing as seronegative MG (all labs negative and doubt from everybody).  In the cases of seronegative MG, a single finger EMG helps confirm the diagnosis.  Not all neurologists are trained in single fiber EMG and the ones that are typically did advanced EMG training.  You may have to see a major center.

rec'd medrol dose pack for asthma flare-up yesterday. doses (24mg max) seem lower than what i've taken before (40mg prednisone). is medrol dose pack sufficient for asthma flare? traveling soon so want to be sure i get right treatment before leaving.

See below: Medrol is methylprednisolone, which is dosed different than prednisone.  It should be sufficient to control an asthma flare.  However, it depends on your other meds and how severe the flare is.  I would make sure you are doing a peak flow meter daily.  Also, have you noticed a decrease in the amount of rescue inhalers you are using since being on the medrol?

i have an abscess and swelling above my lip and slightly up the side of my nose/cheek area. can i take prednisone for this until i can get treatment?

See Dr ASAP: An abscess is a skin infection. There are bacteria in there that are multiplying and causing the swelling. It must be treated ASAP with antibiotics or it will spread and potentially enter the bloodstream causing a life threatening infection called sepsis. Prednisone is a medication that reduces the immune response. You should not take prednisone as your body is working hard to fight the infection.

can i start taking diflucan on day 2 of augmentin and prednisone? started to get yeast infection while taking the medicines. i have 2 diflucans could i take one after my treatment as well as during?

Buffalo hump: Stop prednisone and other steroids is only way. I would look at other relatives not on it to see if they have hump which may be kyphosis.

Unlikely: If you can lose some weight, it may  help and exercise is one of the ways to achieve it.   However you will need to be patient since it will likely take many months even if you are successful in getting in weight down.

Weight gain: Your weight gain on steroids is due to water accumulation. Speak to your physician about placing you on diuretics.

More information: You may need a chest xray, inhalent,  or other breathing treatments as well as antireflux medication.  Asthma can be set off by lying flat if you are having reflux.  Discuss your diagnosis with your doctor (asthma versus bronchitis versus infection, etc) and that will give you a time line and a game plan.

how can i get rid of belly and facial fat from prednisone? im taking 60mg daily since april and will be on for 6mnths more... does soccer help?

Only time: Unfortunately, if you are on a high dose of prednisone, and 60 mg/day is indeed a high dose, there is really nothing you can do while you are on the medication to lose the fat. Prednisone has a lot of unpleasant side effects including redistribution of fat, loss of muscle mass, osteoporosis, muscle weakness and more. It will take considerable time off the medication before your appearance is same.
