Wouldn't be effectiv: A cortisone shot has many benefits but one side effect can be to shut down part of your immune recognition system. A shot within 3-4 weeks may not give you any benefit, while waiting would allow your immune system to wake up and be aware of the stimulus. That is what makes the shot worthwhile.

Shingles vaccine: I could find no mention of autoimmune diseases as a contraindication to giving shingles vaccine. What was mentioned were conditions that suppress the immune system like cancer, chemotherapy, organ transplantation drugs, hiv/aids. Double check with your pcp before getting this immunization. Or perhaps an immunologist on this site can add more certain info.

Probably, but ask Dr: Since it can recur - you certainly want protection. The only issue would be if your residual discomfort would be a reason to wait. I doubt it, but ask the doctor. Be safe! hope you never need to go through it again.

: If you're looking for protection for shingles complications that are more of a problem later in life, get the vaccine after age 60 as protection may wear off for your later years and when you need it most.

Yes: The zoster vaccine is tested & approved for those 50 and older for prevention of shingles. Those without a known history of chickenpox are likely to have had an unrecognized case in childhood & remain at risk. It is not recommended under 50 as no data were assembled for the fda to review.

2 months: That is somewhat controversial as there is some evidence that it can be given while on methotrexate. The current recommendation is to be off of it for 2 months.

Wait: It would be prudent to wait for the Shingles rash to disappear, before you take the vaccine.
