Not painful: Tb pcr is nothing more than a blood test to check for TB as apposed to the skin test for the same reason. Pcr stands for polymerase chain reaction which is done in the lab to check for acid fast bacilli that cause tb.

Yes: But endometrial sampling is usually done under sedition or anesthesia.

Test for genital TB: This is a test to see if you have genital tract tuberculosis, i.e. TB of the uterus, fallopian tubes, etc.

i did a pcr gonorrhea test today.exposure was more than 3 month ago.the test was so much painful,i think my soul left my body during taking pcr test from my penis and the urination after it . result will be conclusive for any type gonorrhea?

: The test is conclusive; a negative result will prove you don't have gonorrhea. Sorry to hear how painful this was for you. The pain will clear up soon. Next time have a urine test instead of urethral swab. It's just as accurate and of course not painful..

Infertility: It's always a good idea to discuss your concerns w/your doctor especially regarding tests, medications & procedures. We diagnose infertility after just 12 months of attempts w/o success. So it's best that you go see a reproductive endocrinologist immediately. Start taking prenatal vitamins now to lower risk for neural tube defects. Your partner will need to get sperm count/semen analysis, too.

my doc refused to do urinary pcr to check for scrotal tb, he insists mantoux test is accurate enough. is mantoux test reaaly that sensitive?

Why?: Like me, your doctor probably wonders why on earth you think you have scrotal tb. A mantoux test is a good test for determining whether you harbor the TB bacillus. If it's negative, you should probably look for another explanation for whatever is bothering your scrotum.

all tests and biopsy point to sarcoidosis stage 2, sputum test shows no tb, however due to necrotizing my pulmonologist wants me to start tb regime even though pcr hasn't come back yet. can someone explain why this is? also on prednisone 25mg?

TBC SARCOID: I would guess he wants to treat u 4 tbc until he is certain you do not have tbc now.  Culture will help decide but the bugs grow slowly and may take awhile.  go to uptodate.com and read more then discuss with your team there. SARCOID and TBC may be different there than in US.

Accepted Answer

Not reliable: The herpes simplex virus (HSV) PCR test is not intended for urine testing. If someone is having a herpes outbreak involving the urethra (which would be quite painful), a PCR test might detect it. But a negative urine PCR would miss almost all herpes infections. If you're having a possible herpes outbreak, the sores/lesions need PCR testing. If no symptoms, a blood test is available.

is there any possibility to have pcr(-) test results but still have hiv?

Maybe: There may be a brief period between initial infection and producing enough virus to be detectable by pcr.
