TBC SARCOID: I would guess he wants to treat u 4 tbc until he is certain you do not have tbc now. Culture will help decide but the bugs grow slowly and may take awhile. go to uptodate.com and read more then discuss with your team there. SARCOID and TBC may be different there than in US.

Sarcoidosis...: If a biopsy was done, it would show non-caseating granulomas in sarcoidosis. But, tuberculosis and sarcoidosis can look similar on chest x-ray so, if no biopsy has been done yet, and tuberculosis has not been ruled out, your doc may be treating you for TB until it is clear which it is. The steroids would be helpful in sarcoidosis so you are currently being treated for both until test results known

Agree with Drs. F&G: It is reasonable to use anti-tubercular treatment till you are sure you do not have TB. If is especially important because prednisone can make the untreated TB spread widely. Follow your doctor's advice. Wish you good health!
