Not life threatening: But, depends on type of svt.  Generally svt always occurs the same way - same symptoms every episode-  since the short circuit is a fixed path, but this is not always true.

From : From your description it does not sound that the condition is life threatening. However there are many different factors that go into evaluating the risk in a particular patient and you should be under the care of an electrophysiologist. Most major medical centers in ny area have very competent electrophysiology divisions. There are new definite treatments that can eliminate the recurrence of arrhythmia in many patients.

Not missing anything: Svt is not a disease and occurs in normal hearts. As your doctor said, it's an annoyance but not dangerous . It's very common in young women. You should avoid stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, xs alcohol, sleep deprivation, and stress if possible. Low potassium can contribute.  Symptoms can be improved with medication but meds are only used for symptom control because the rhythm is not dangerous.

Make a visit.: If there's ever a time to have a good, sit down, heart-to-heart with your cardiologist, this is it.  Doing exercise with svt depends on a lot of things - how old your are, if you have other heart disease, if your svt is controlled by meds or not, how often you get it.  When you see your cards doc, ask specific questions: ex "how high should I let my heart rate get and for how long?" good luck!

If the medications aren't adequate there is an ablation procedure that may be successful. Not directly: Infection is a pro thrombotic state(clot causing), so a sever illness can lead to an set or dvt.  The pleurisy itself (inflammation of the lining of the lung) is a part of the inflammatory cascade that can lead there, but doesn't directly cause svts.

ABSOLUTELY!: Alcohol can be directly toxic to the heart in sufficient quantities. Excessive drinking can cause any number of cardiac problems including svt.
