There are many contributing factors and episodes of stress, not wearing an appliance, gum chewing, etc. Can cause ongoing symptoms. When was the last time you saw your dentist for an evaluation? Are you following all instructions? See your dentist and perhaps an ENT specialist to rule out any medical issues.

Chronic pain: Chronic pain can definitely interfere with quality of life, and adopting a healthy lifestyle and mindset are essential.  Exercise regularly, eat a clean diet, consult with a pain specialist, consider psychotherapy, meditate,  sleep regularly, make time for fun/family/friends.  Best wishes..

Muscle spasm: Middle age female w. fibromyalgia w. acute post-cervical pain, occipital tenderness, "short breath &amp; tremors"; no mention of fever, headache, cough or nauseous, which would arouse concern for urgent care. Unifying dynamic: superior trapezius spasm; common this age group. S. trap attaches to chest wall/skull &amp; major nerves transit. Heat, rest, massage, cannabis lotion, acupuncture &amp; Osteopathy.

Heat & exercises : Without more information,  it is not possible to  try to determine the cause of your pain. Would recommend trying an otc  NSAID along  with stretching exercises. If the pain persists then you need to see your pcp.

Mostly just time: For most muscular symptom presentations in the neck, it takes a little time to  clear.  Sometimes, this may be an initial symptom of another problem like a disc herniation but those usually resolve with time.  If you smoke, stop.  Local heat application may help as can simple stretching of the neck while showering and avoiding prolonged positioning.  Otc medication may help if no contraindications.

These are worrisome: symtoms and may represent an inflammation of the meninges. You should be evaluated by a health care provider as soon as possible to exclude meningitis. Go soon and don't delay.

Hot water: Definitely!  The Japanese knew about this centuries ago - hence their tradition of onsen.  A hot bath or shower will do wonders! Of course rest and stretching of tired muscles even with some massage thrown in can do wonders. Best to 'listen' to your body... Pain is the language it uses to tell you 'stop doing' this or that. It helps to pay attention sometimes.  Now I recommend taking it easy.

Possible: Although difficult to prove, if the anxiety is severe enough to cause marked muscle tension a stiff neck could develop.

i have a few ms symptoms of which i am seeing a neuro.  two days ago,  i woke up with a stiff neck, and still today.  is that a ms symptom?

Could be: It could be that your symptoms are from muscle spasm related to the MS. Or it could just be a muscle spasm from overuse or strain. If you have any other symptoms like fever or rash then you need to go to the emergency department as stiff neck with fever and rash can be a sign of meningitis. However, that is rare and if it is just a stiff neck it is probably spasm, try heat and advil (ibuprofen).
