Pcos and remifemin: Remifemin is a reliable, clinically-studied black cohosh extract can provide natural relief from hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings etc of menopause and peri menopause. It allows you to have a strong alternative to hormone replacement therapy (hrt) for the treatment of menopausal symptoms.
Not most doctors like it. I doubt that it will help with pcos. Please get advise from your obgyn. Thanks.

Yes: Exercise is very much encouraged since it helps control metabolism, contribute weight loss , mental well being etc. Combine with low carb diet may help to prevent diabetes and further complication if pcos! choose exercise which fits to your training level! may be good to ask trainer to get started safely!

Supplement/PCOS: There is no evidence that any multivitamin like geritol has any benefit in patients with pcos.

Ovulation : Pcos patients are often not ovulating. Medications such as Clomid (clomiphene) can often help if trying to conceive.

Accepted Answer

Normal: Each ovarian follicle contains an egg.  They are supposed to be there.  PCOS is the condition of having many partially developed ovarian follicles (cysts).  They are awaiting the signal to develop and to eventually release an egg (i.e. ovulation). In a patient with PCOS that signal does not come regularly, hence the many small follicles - again that is normal and normal is inherently good.

No effect on PCOS: Nexplanon/Implanon is a highly effective implantable contraceptive. Effective for 3 years. most common side effect is irregular periods in about 25% of users. can range from no periods to daily bleeding or spotting. Breakthrough bleeding can be treated with birth control pills or estrogen but the bleeding often recurs. Weight changes, usually gain, can occur.  Mood changes are not uncommon.

Weight loss: Pcos is a condition where excess hormones - progesterone, estrogen, testosterone and or their analogs/precursors are made by fatty tissues. The only cure is a reduction in weight, although there are a small percentage of underwt women with this. You can treat some symptoms with birth control hormones, and possible metformin, but not "fix it" without decreasing the amount of body fat.

Low calorie: Weight loss is critical for PCOS.  There are several approaches.  One would be a lower carbohydrate diet since you are already having issues with your insulin levels.  Elevated insulin levels associated with PCOS can impede weight loss.  You could also consider the Mediterranean Diet as this has been shown to help with metabolic disordered patients.

TTC: Trying to conceive with PCOS. Best would be to establish with Ob-Gyn specializing in fertility issues that should be able to advise further. Your GP should be able to help and/or coordinate as needed.

is depo good for overweight women with pcos?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no: Depo-provera will reduce the multiple ovarian cyst formation and inhibit some of the symptoms of PCOS. The downside is that once the Depo-provera is stopped then the same ovulation difficulties will reappear and  spontaneous ovulation/fertility is still a problem Moreover, Depo-provera can cause irregular bleeding/spotting.
