Improbable: Are you saying a man sick with meningitis was at a party and drinking alcohol? And you think you can get meningitis this way?  Your scenario is so unfathomable that I am not sure what you are worrying about.  Was he ill? Did he have a fever? Do you feel ill? Do you have a fever?

my 3yrs girl has fever 3dys +/-38c. she vomited twice, complains on neck & headache and tonight her eyes hurt and she couldn't look at light. meningitis? if it is can it outcome serious complications for 3 days? what tests are the best?

Probably not: meningitis, however it needs to be ruled out, please take your daughter to her pediatrician or go to ER for assessment, it would be decided then what tests to pursue, and don't worry about meningitis complications, wish you both wellness

i am 23 years old and i have optic nerve tumour in right eye since birth.there is no vision in that eye.a case of exophthalmos and meningitis.tumour can't be removed completely as per the doctors.i want to know whether thisaffect memory and cognition?

Not the tumor itself: Your optic nerve tumor itself should have no effect on cognition or memory, unless it has become so large that it is pressing on the hippocampus or entorhinal cortex.  Depending on how it was treated, though, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy can affect both memory and cognition. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. They can do a PET scan which shows functional changes in areas of your brain

: Yes, these symptoms could be caused meningitis. If so, probably it's due to a virus, not bacterial meningitis. That's a lot less serious, but you can't be certain -- you need medical care immediately. If your personal physician can't see you today, go to the nearest urgent care clinic or hospital emergency department. Good luck.

Meningitis: Are you taking any tetracycline type antibiotics or high doses of vitamin a? You may have a condition that mimics meningitis, namely psedotumor cerebri. Consult your doctor for a definitive diagnosis.

Chronic meninigitis: The more common causes of chronic meningitis include cryptococcus, tuberculosis, and other less frequently encountered organisms.  Go see your doctor and if indicated they may want to do a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) since this is the best way in which to exclude this diagnosis.

Cold and flu: Not a meningitis - if it were, it would be very unlikely that you would be asking about symptoms 3 days into the illness online.  If you are still troubled by symptoms then visit your doctor. Evaluation for sinusitis would seem appropriate.
