Minor nosebleed: It is common. Try to apply saline nasal gel spray prior to sleep and use a humidifier in winter months. See ENT if symptoms persists.

Fell bump on her hea: She apparently had a head injury and with a bump on the head you need to take her to er, for evaluation and possible cat scan to rule out subdural hematoma.

Hunidification: Running a humidifier at night can help alleviate the problem.

If the mucous is discolored, you may have an infection and it is recommended that you see a physician to get a nasal culture and an antibiotic if it is determined you have an infection.

Allergies can also be an underlying cause especially if the mucous is watery and is associated with sneezing or nasal itching - try an antihistamine.

Possible reasons for: A.M. Nasal congestion include:  if you sleep lying flat in bed, this gives mucus a chance to pool in your nasal passages. While you are sleeping the mucus thickens & you wake with congestion. If the air is dry in your home this can contribute to thickening of the mucus. Are you allergic to dust mites? They infest your pillows, mattress and  bed linens leading to allergic reactions in some people.

Itchy nose: May be simply a matter of dry air, common with heaters & heating systems. Try running a vaporizer &/or using saline nasal spray/gel to moisten the nasal mucosa. If you're sneezing a lot, allergies may be involved, in which case an air filter may help.

Normal: While we sleep we produce less adrenaline in our body. Adrenaline is a natural decongestant. This is why the stuffiness goes away after being awake for an hour.
