It's manageable: Individual pain tolerance plays a role, certain surgical techniques hurt less than others.  Pain isn't too bad the first 2 days then is worst days 2-3 postop, starts to decrease, sometimes increases 4-6 days postop as the scabs shed and is almost done at 10-14 days.  Suggest narcotics, advil, (ibuprofen) and topical Lidocaine to get you through.

Hurts a lot: If you are undergoing tonsillectomy by a board certified otolaryngologist (ent surgeon), there is a 1% chance of serious post-op bleeding.  That means there is a 99% chance you will be fine post-operatively.  However, you will have at least 10 days of severe pain in the throat for which narcotic pain medication will be necessary.  You will be fine.

Hard to say...: Bad breath has so many causes, i can't tell you how long yours will last. It may be from the tonsillectomy, in which case you will lose the halitosis when completely healed. If you had bad breath prior to the tonsillectomy, it may not have been from the tonsils. To determine the cause you may need to see an ENT and/or a dentist.

Depends: At what percentage did your tonsils contribute to your halitosis, I don't know. I would ask you to see your dentist for a checkup. Make sure you are cleared by your Ear,Nose and Throat surgeon.

Lortab: Its been 2 weeks since the procedure - one may argue why do you still need pain medication. Lortab is not a benign medication even though many seem to think its no big deal.

Morning breath: Morning halitosis occurs because saliva production is reduced while we sleep, leading bacteria in the mouth to produce sulfuric compounds that build up. Brushing and flossing before going to bed may help, but morning breath is not unusual. Have patience: Well this is the time you can enjoy Ice cream and cold smoothies to your heart's content. It takes 7 to 14 days to heal. Every day will be a better than the day before.
