Hurts a lot: If you are undergoing tonsillectomy by a board certified otolaryngologist (ent surgeon), there is a 1% chance of serious post-op bleeding. That means there is a 99% chance you will be fine post-operatively. However, you will have at least 10 days of severe pain in the throat for which narcotic pain medication will be necessary. You will be fine.
