No!: Simplistically viewed, milk contains fat that delays the stomach emptying food and acid, calcium that stimulates release of gastrin (a hormone that revs up acid production), and the bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) stresses your kidneys.  If an ulcer has been diagnosed, please take the acid blocker prescription your physician likely recommended.

Yes it is!: Milk provides a coating and relief of your discomfort.  For palliative treatment, antacids (liquids) are also helpful.  Your physician or a specialist (ie. Gastroenterologist) should diagnose you for the most appropriate treatment.  There are many over-the-counter and prescription medications available to reduce acid production that is irritating.  Meet with your md for the proper treatment!

Diagnosis: Should be secured first, as there are different types of ulcers. Anti acid treatment should be started same time, but the presence of an ulcer should be demonstrated and biopsies, if present.

PPI's and avoidance: Ulcers if bleeding can be treated if they are cauterized during endoscopy.  But basic way to treat ulcer is with meds called ppi's- this is nexium, protonix, dexilant, (dexlansoprazole) prevacid, prilosec...Etc. This keeps the acid down and allows ulcer time to heal. Avoiding things that make ulcer worse also helps-like alcohol, nsaids or Aspirin or steroids  or smoking etc. If assoc w h.Pylori-treating this helps.

Ulcer: There is no particular diet that is necessary for an ulcer. You should definitely avoid aspirin and NSAIDs. From a food point-of-view, , you should avoid any food which  you notice gives you troubles. You should quit smoking, and avoid alcohol at least until you&#x27;ve verified the ulcer is healed. Be sure to take your medicine and to follow up with your doctor as advised. Good luck.
