A : A low heart rate is called "bradycardia" and is considered to be any heart rate less than 60 beats per minute.  Bradycardia can either be a sign of a healthy, fit heart, or it can be a sign of a problem with the heart's electrical system.  Marathon runners and other very fit, young athletes will often have very low heart rates - even in the 40-50 beats per minute range.  If you do not fit into the "fit, young athlete" category, then there are other things to consider such as damage to the heart from coronary artery disease, heart attack, a metabolic problem such as hypothyroidism, or a medication which can cause a slowed heart rate as a side effect.  You should discuss your concerns with your doctor.  They may want to check an ekg and a few blood tests to rule out problems with your heart.  Good luck!

can lexapro cause low heart beat. on 20mg and my heart rate gets down to mid-50's sometimes. is this normal?

Hmm?:  Tachycardia or palpitations can occur. I am not familiar with bradycardia due to Lexapro.

Have it checked: If your normal rate changes without excess exercise or drugs to slow the heart rate, you need a cardiologist examine you to determine the cause and then try to stabilize your heart beat.  The cardiologist will examine an EKG he will take and determine the cause.  Don't hesitate, get this checked before additional changes become bad.

i have been feeling very weak and tired. no energy and no motivation. i have a very slow heart rate - 47 and my blood pressure is 120 over 56.  i feel shaky and my heart beat jumps around i am a runner. could i be lacking some sort of mineral. ?

Possibly: It is also possible that you have low thyroid, I suggest a good PE by PCP, B- vits, iodine and selenium are all important , need to make sure there is nothing else involved

Doomed pregnancy?: Ideally, in a viable pregnancy the gestational sac is spherical and is located in the fundus, the upper part of the uterus, and the fetus' heart rate is above 100 bpm. In your case two out of these three criteria are not met, raising concern that the pregnancy may end in a miscarriage. At the end of the day what is important, though, is the absence of bleeding and cramping.

: Check the accuracy of your pulseometer first. But should be OK. There are charts that show acceptable heart rates but you want one from Kuwait in men like you.  Keep up the exercise but beware of heat stroke risk.

Often normal: Sinus Bradycardia(HR &lt;60 bpm) is more common in athletes. During sleep it&#x27;s not unusual for HR to drop to 30 bpm at times. If you are not having symptoms such as dizziness or light headed no treatment is needed. It is common for physicians to order a cardiac ultrasound and an EKG stress test if there is any concern for a possible underlying heart condition. **See comments.

That can be a: normal heart rate for someone your age, especially if you're an athlete. If you feel well and aren't losing a lot of weight and don't have dizziness or other symptoms like that, you are probably fine. If you are still unsure and concerned, please have an examination by your doctor.

Depends: Normal heart rate is 60-100 bpm.  Having said that, in healthy, fit and conditioned individuals a resting heart rate as low as 30-40 BPM can be seen because their heart is conditioned and at rest is not needing a lot of oxygen, so does not beat fast. When that person exercises, and o2 and blood demands go up to their skeletal muscle etc, heart rate will increase. Hope that makes sense.

Much slower: Your heart rate can pause for up to 5 seconds (that's a heart rate of 12) and, depending on what you're doing, you may not notice it. Depending on your activity and position, or if it's happening regularly, you'll pass out (or nearly pass out).
