It's protective: Antibacterial ointments are great at preventing infection from getting into your skin. That's why they are great for open wounds and ulcers. If you already have a skin infection, ointments likely wont help much. It may require oral antibiotics or if there is a abscess, drainage.

Doxycycline: The treatment of choice for any staph infection is oral Doxycycline (or one of the other antibiotics indicated for staph).  Topical creams such as neosporin or Bacitracin are relatively ineffective; they might have a small supplemental effect when used with an oral antibiotic, but should not be used by themselves for staph.

Maybe: Depending on the culture and what it is actually sensitive to.  That is why some strains are methocillin resistant (mrsa).  Your doctor will prescribe the appropriate medication for you.

Sunscreen, exfoliate: The dark spot is a hyperpigmentation scar that will fade on its own. The most important thing is to wear sunscreen everyday as the spots can get darker in the sun. An over-the-counter cream containing retinol or aha can help exfoliate the spot and speed the healing, however these creams can irritate the skin. Even with the creams it will take a few weeks to months to heal, so be patient.
