Vicodin : Vicodin has tylenol (acetaminophen) in it already, so by taking both, you could take too much tylenol (acetaminophen).  If you are having problems with pain and your prescription vicodin is not helping, call the doctor who prescribed it for additional suggestions.

Generally no: But unfortunately common.  Firstly, this would be 4.5 grams of tylenol (acetaminophen) per day, which is higher than the 4 grams/day previously considered safe, and much higher than the 2 grams/day now considered safe.  If the vicodin was the only thing done for the pain, it is clearly not a good choice.  In many people, tolerance leads to gradually increasing dose and decreased safety, as well as diversion/od.

Vicodin vs Tylenol 4: Not clear what u mean by stronger. Go to uptodate.com and drugs.com.  It will depend on what u are trying to treat. Just pain or pain + inflammation. And other meds you are taking and your own metabolism will affect how each is absorbed and metabolized and helps.  Try each and see. T is a good anti-inflammatory.

That's not: The issue.  Analgesics should be taken at the lowest dose possible that is effective.  Equi-potency charts exist but they are subjective at best.

Depends on dose: Tylenol (acetaminophen) is mixed with a number of pain medicines such as vicodin. Vicodin contains varying amounts of hydrocodone and acetaminophen.  One must be aware of the total amount of daily Acetaminophen intake.  The current thinking is the total dose should be less than 3000 mg of acetaminophen.  In chronic situations, in patients with liver disease, etc. The dose should be much less.
