A member asked:

Can a person take tylenol (acetaminophen) at the same time as vicodin just wondering if it is dangerous to take vicodin and tylenol (acetaminophen) at the same time

Vicodin : Vicodin has tylenol (acetaminophen) in it already, so by taking both, you could take too much tylenol (acetaminophen). If you are having problems with pain and your prescription vicodin is not helping, call the doctor who prescribed it for additional suggestions.

Depends: On how many tylenol of what strength (325 mg vs. 500 mg) and how many vicodin of what strength (most now have no more than 325 mg of acetaminophen). The recommended maximum daily dose of tylenol taken chronically is 2 grams per day, and the recommended maximum for occasional use is 4 grams per day. Do the math.
