Yes: Yes it will.  However, take sparingly as most hydrocodone preparations are combined with Acetaminophen which can "stress" the liver.  Liver inflammation is present in mononucleosis.

is it safe to take hydrocodone-acetaminophen for a sore throat from mono? the sore throat makes it near impossible to eat and sleep.

? Won't help:  Steroids would better suit this condition and help the soreness, ask your doctor about it, meanwhile,  use salt water gargles and non-steroidal pain killers as ibuprofen OTC, read the labels carefully, wish you a speedy recovery

Mono pain medication: Generally no.  If you are truly diagnosed with mononucleosis you should only take non-prescription strength pain relievers because stronger pain relievers can mask a rare but serious complication of mono which is a ruptured spleen.  It can be felt as severe left upper abdomen pain.

norovirus and mono got me. gastritis for the last 2 months. some stomach tenderness. found a little im in stomach on scope. take prilosec. thoughts?

Sorry about yr GI: If you really have a gastritis (inflamed stomach) the antacid Prilosec that should help. About your viral infections with Norovirus and Infectious Mono virus we have no antiviral drugs for those and you will just have to endure. The people who do worst are the very young (infants) and the very old (over 75). You will do fine.

im developing a sore throat, can i take keflex for infection and norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) for pain? are there any interactions? until i have time to get to the dr on wed

Accepted Answer

Don't take them!: There's no interaction between cephalexin (Keflex) and hydrocodone with acetaminophen (Norco), but you definitely shouldn't take them. Sore throats are almost always due to viruses, which cephalexin won't help at all; it would just make it harder for your doctor ro diagnose you. And a narcotic is giant overkill for a "developing" sore throat. Plain acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol etc) is enough.

my spleen is enlarged and i currently have mono its a little tender on the left side where my spleen is i just want to know how to sleep on my neck or right side because the left just isnt an option right now please help?

: Sleep in whatever position you find comfortable, using pillows or other aids. The spleen will not rupture during any sleep position you take, that complication is limited to activities that direct blunt force to the abdomen, like contact sports or falling from a bicycle/horse.

can glands still be tender from mono 4 months later?

Unusual, but yes: I personally have had a case of mono when i was 15, and was so fatigued with achy nodes that missed about 4 months of 10th grade.But this should be further evaluated. R liver function tests still elevated, is there enlargement of liver or spleen, are other nodes internally involved.  Have check with internist or infectious disease specialist. You may need further test, eg a lymph node biopsy.

i had mono at 19. since then i've had a string of swollen, hard lymph nodes under my right arm. twice in my life the largest one (.5cm) would swell, get a little red and tender for a few weeks, then calm again. i'm 58 now. should i be concerned?

: Have you discussed your concern with your PCP.  What are the  circumstances in which the lymph nodes swell.  Have you noticed swollen lymph nodes elsewhere on your body.  Are the nodes freely movable.  Please, discuss all of your concerns with your PCP.

Lymph nodes: All can swell including those areas you mentioned. After three weeks I would suggest another exam
