UTI: It is very unlikely that a simple UTI will predispose to an abortion spontaneously.

UTI: Statistics on this subject are difficult to come by, but UTI may occur in association with abortion if the procedure employed produces any transient trauma to the urethra. This form of physiologic "obstruction" to urine outflow has been shown to predispose to secondary uti.

Many questions ???: Properly done surgical abortions do not give someone PID, although any such procedure would have a small risk of an infection in the womb. It would be obvious within days. BV, UTI's &amp; yeast does not give you PID although someone can have both at the same time. The primary causes of PID include the STD's gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Too complex, see MD: This is too complex an issue to be safely answered with the information available. Erythromycin is an unusual drug for UTI. Follow up with the doctor or clinic treating you.

is it safe to take a course of levaquin several times a year? i have chronic recurrent utis and it's the only effective antibiotic. is a course of 5 levaquin pills a few times a year safe?

: You should only take antibiotics when you symptoms and after a urine culture test and under the supervision of a Urologist. It is safe to take it several times a year if it is indicated . Try increasing water intake, voiding when you get the urge, keeping the genital area clean and avoiding constipation. It will help prevent recurrences. Good luck

is it safe to take azo cranberry pills for a uti/bladder infection while breastfeeding a 7 week old?

Safe for baby but...: Cranberry has always been controversial, but from recent research we know for sure it does not prevent or treat UTI. The "azo" component is phenazypyridine, a bladder anesthetic:  it somewhat numbs the inside of the bladder and helps reduce symptoms, but doesn't cure UTI. You need to have a proper antibiotic by prescription. In any case, it won't harm your baby.

had sex without condom on monday i am on birth control pills take them perfectly . was prescribed antibiotics for uti today(wednesday) is it safe to take them or is there a risk of pregnancy from monday with the antibiotics and birth control pills?

BCP ?'s: Although there are specific antibiotics which can diminish the effectiveness of oral bcp's, if there is no withdrawal bleeding during the active pill series, it is unlikely that protection from pregnancy will be affected.  Competitive absorption of oral bcp's from antibiotics would possibly diminish the active pills presence in the blood stream, so no withdrawal bleeding indicates effectiveness.
