Accepted Answer

That is due to opera: It is common after cutting into skin to feel numbness. It is the result of tiny nerves having been cut with the knife. They take a year or two to regenerate. So you can ignore it and get your mind off of this area. It will eventually become normal after sometime.

i had appendectomy 2 n half years back. 7 cm incision was made. i also had stitch granuloma after the operation.i have lost wt since then n become underwt now also i feel heaviness in my rt leg help?

See gastroenterology: Appendectomy, even with complications, such as scar tissue leading to obstruction or development of an abscess does not usually result in symptoms that you describe.  You need to make sure that there was truly appendicitis.  Alternatives include inflammatory bowel disease or infectious causes, such as atypical mycobacterial infection.  See a GI doctor for further testing.

is it okay to start ab workouts such as crunches, leg raises, planks, etc 6 1/2 weeks post lap appendectomy that was uncomplicated? it was early stage

Yes: most surgeons would allow full activity 4-6 weeks after laparoscopic surgery.  Use common sense when unceasing that activity.... Don't over do it.

Get seen: These are suspicious enough as lateralizing signs of a lesion that you deserve a good physical exam & perhaps some imaging. Good luck.

Myalgia: paresthetica: a numb sensation in an extremity, usually caused by pressure or compression of a leg nerve: almost always disappears with 24 hrs. or sooner.

i lost my balance and fell on my left buttock but i have pain in my right side when i try to walk and put weight on my right leg. i usually walk with a cane but it's not working well for me right now. a little pain when i get up, more when i walk?

: AT your age you need an examination to see what is going on. I always tell my patients your age: We are all just a fall away from a nursing home. Ask about using a cane or walker to minimize this risk and ask about exercises to minimize your risk of falling and how to organize your house to minimize this risk. Good luck.

Meralgia: Possibly, surgical positioning, or laying on your side postoperatively, may have compressed a sensory nerve, the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. (meralgia paresthetica).  This may well reverse over a few weeks.  Other possibilities maybe hip, low back issues, etc.  Often a simple exam demonstrates what has occurred.

Uncertain: Five months after surgery, risks of infectious complication should be near zero. Was the prior surgery complicated or have abscess? Fever? Vomiting? May be something else such as unrelated groin hernia. Call your surgeon or see your family doctor for an exam. May need blood tests, ct scan, etc.

Bruise ?: This should be seen by a physician as you have had it for some time as well seems to be involving a larger area

: Sorry to hear about your arthritis at such a very young age. You did not specify the type of exercise you are involved in. If you are a runner you could have a biomechanical in balance causing you to have a abnormal wear and tear on your knee joints. A podiatrist can help you with this type of problem using orthotics as well as strengthening and stretching which is also very important
