i had a bone graft done for preparation for a dental implant. two weeks later i've developed a light purple discoloration in the tooth next to the surgical site.  i used peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) post-op is this normal?

Probably normal: but it is best to check with your oral surgeon.  Anytime you have surgery and make an incision (even on gum tissue) there can be slight bleeding and bruising under the skin (your gums tissue is a type of skin).  This should get better and fade away with time.

my lingual frenectomy was done by cutting part of the flesh off the bone behind my bottom teeth instead of frenulum itself. is that a normal method?

Lingual frenulectomy: A lingual frenulectomy  is the procedure utilized by the physician, usually an ENT , to treat a patient that is tongue tied, a condition called ankyloglossia .  It involves dividing the lingual  frenulum above the sublingual gland ducts (usually in the middle of this structure).   A scissors or a cautery instrument is used to do this and the free edges are sutured together for hemostasis.

Yes under the gums: A bone graft is placed deep inside the socket or defect and is then covered by a membrane to contain it, the gums is reflected and sutured over the area to keep it he bone particle inside until they fuse and integrate with your bone. The retainer is used to protect the area from any pressure during chewing until the healing period is completed.

Depends: It depends on how extensive the surgery was and where in the mouth it was done. Generally speaking though, i would recommend a soft or liquid diet for a couple of weeks. Also be very gentle using a tooth brush in the area, you don't want to dislodge a stitch or membrane too early.

In a few days: You may need to be cautious following any oral surgery.  Your doctor will give you post-operative instructions to ensure the success of the site healing properly.  You will be able to eat relatively normal within a few days.

Noside effects: You had surgery. May take some tome to recover. Or you may feel "off" for a myriad of other reasons. Coming down with a cold, for example.
