Need more info: A shift of neutrophils vs lymphocytes can suggest a bacterial vs viral infection, but it is not at all a clear indication that antibiotics are needed.  See your clinician for more history and exam, ad possibly more tests defending on symptoms and exam findings.

Flu-like symptoms: Your flu-like symptoms in your throat and body aches have nothing to do with taking antibiotics. You happen to have contracted a virus while treating your bacterial UTI.

i was diagnosed with bronchitis, was prescribed a course of antibiotics, and have taken various other medications; however, i feel that the flu-like symptoms have returned. i haven't had time to rest due to work and busy weekends.

One of three things: After treatment of a bacterial bronchitis or bacterial pneumonia, the return of symptoms means either:  a relapse of the infection has occurred (it never fully resolved), a recurrence (it resolved but the illness is happening again), or a new illness with similar symptoms has begun. One's primary care doctor (presumably the prior treating doctor) can reevaluate to see what is going on.

i was diagnosed & treated for flu like symptoms & sinusitis on the 17/02/20. i was already having symptoms on/off for 2 weeks prior then became severe. i was given amoxyclav625 antibiotic & cortisone. so far i was better but now having symptoms again?

Primary/secondary: You may be partially treated, have a resistant organism, secondary or new infection. Sinusitis treatment requires a longer course of antibiotics. Nasal saline rinses and Flonase may help to relieve symptoms and improve recovery time. Please see your PCP.

Flu like symptoms: Flu like symptoms usually mean flu or covid-19. Would recommend getting tested for flu as well and if positive can be treated with antivirals. No antibiotics are recommended for either one. Use acetaminophen for pain and fevers, stay hydrated with water and rest. Quarantine measures.

See another doctor: This may not be something that antibiotics is going to treat. Persistent flu like symptoms is a little concerning. If your symptoms are headache/fever/chills/muscle aches/sore throat, etc... There is something serious going on. I would see someone who is going to do more than treat with antibiotics.

Bacteria: Cultures of bacteria must be interpreted by what organisms are isolated and from what clinical materials and in the context of signs and symptoms of illness in the patient, along with other factors like physical exam and other lab findings.  Would never base antibiotic therapy on the information you have provided. Discuss this with your doctor.

Perhaps: There are several causes of bronchiectasis.  My first question is whether you are seeing a pulmonologists and what kind of work up have you had.  The proper treatment includes bronchodilators with antibiotics based on culture results.  Make sure you are seeing a specialist.

is there an alternative cure for cryptosporidium, my 10 month old son tested positive for cryptosporidium, and alinia is not registered in sa.he was hospitalized for a week but he's still having diahrea and flu like symptoms, antibiotics not helping?

Cryptosporidiosis : No generic in South Africa? Nitazoxanide? If there is not a an infectious disease specialist already involved in his care - that would be helpful.
