oxycodone makes me sick to my stomach.    alternative pain killer i can take?  i have  back strain and will be seeing my pcp in the morning.

Back strain: I would stick to a good NSAID (zipsor, naprelan) and a muscle relaxer.  Narcotics (like oxycodone) do not address the underlying problem.  Ther are however many other narcotics besides oxycodone if your doctor feels you need one (tramadol, hydrocodone).

Possible: Sitting puts the greatest stress on the human spine...Break up you sitting, learn core exercises etc.

how long upper back strain last?in a pilates class i overstreched my back and for the last week,when i bend my head or hunch my back i feel a pain/pulling sensation in middle upper back.when laying in bed or just sitting or walking it doesn't hurt?

: It may last weeks in certain cases but it often lasts less than 10 days. Anyway, the symptom should get much better after a week. Good luck.

Sounds muscular: But its nearly impossible to give you a meaningful answer to a question like this without examining you and obtaining more history (exercise habits, recent activity, what makes it better/worse, associated symptoms, duration, intensity etc., ).

: This should be examined by a podiatrist for alignment of your knee. Orthotics are very good in controlling this problem in young females.

Rest heat OTC meda: Generally most just get better with activity restriction and rest but one can apply heat or cold depending what feels best and take over the counter pills like tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil if no medical reasons to not recommend these medications.

It could be a source: Especially. If you feel symptoms after getting out of bed ; otherwise feel better during the rest of your day.  A matress eventually will need to be replaced dependent on the quality ; how religious you are about rotating it as well as how heavy you are.  Most will function well on average of 7-10 years.  How you sleep in terms of position and length of sleep may also play a role.

See below: If the strani involver the upper back, the nerves from that area affect the chest.  Pain in the muscles of the upper back can radiate around the front of the chest.  If the pain in your chest seems to be independent of the back problem, then you need to see your physician for an evaluation.
