my stomach has a sharp pain on the upper left side under my ribs. it doesn't hurt normally, only when i flex my stomach muscles. did i strain it?

Sounds muscular: But its nearly impossible to give you a meaningful answer to a question like this without examining you and obtaining more history (exercise habits, recent activity, what makes it better/worse, associated symptoms, duration, intensity etc., ).
