Accepted Answer

They shouldn't: None of those should interfere with the minipill. However, the minipill is a Progesterone only pill and tends to be pretty sensitive.  You have to take it at the same time every day and stress can effect it. If you are worried, use a back up method like condoms for a couple of days.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (diphenyhydramine) is sometimes given to patient's undergoing anesthesia to help prevent allergic reactions, or in some cases to provide some mild sedation. If you do take it please let your anesthesiologist know. However, it should not be a problem with your anesthetic.

going under anesthesia for colonoscopy. currently take 100mg fluvoxamine (luvox) any concerns with possibl drug interactions?

: In this instance I would want clearance from the anesthesiologist as there is always a concern for the very dangerous serotonin syndrome when SSSR's like luvox interact with other medications. Your pharmacist can also shed light on this matter.

Anesthesia Induction: With I.V. Sedation prior to induction(going to sleep), you may not even remember going into the o.R.  Once all the monitors and oxygen is on, you may feel a little warmth in your I.V. And then you will be out in a matter of seconds. Even without much sedation, the medications we use now acts so rapidly you wont really be able to comprehend you are going to sleep.

Anesthesia Feeling: Patients describe feelings of relaxation, euphoria, peace, and tranquility,  also, a warm feeling running through their body.  The onset of induction - falling asleep - is usually fairly rapid, like within 30 seconds to 1 minute, but does depend on the agent(s) being used.   Most IV anesthetics are very well tolerated, do not cause nausea or vomiting post-operatively, and metabolize fairly quickly.

cannot tolerate benzos, for mri  it paralyzes me for days after ..     what else can i take in my iv.    under anesthesia ?

Conscious sedation: If you are going to be consciously sedated for an MRI scan by a radiologist they have alternative medications that get around issues of people who can't tolerate one type of tranquilizer or another. Just be sure the sandman knows what your concerns are with the benzos. Also, you may wish to consider an OPEN MRI if your doctor agrees for which you may not need meds at all. So much the better, no?

i want to have a bunionectomy screw removed in the office. it's working out for about 3 years and is too painful to wear most shoes over it. i take warfarin and do. not want to be put under anesthesia. just a local in the office. only takes 10 min?

: Removing a screw after foot surgery after 3 years not a problem. Under local in office procedure if prepped correctly   Can take antibiotic prior to surgery for protection if concerned

can you tell me is it bad to take 15-20 mg of ambien (zolpidem) tonight if i took 50 mg of vicodin yesterday?

Accepted Answer

Yes it would be bad: and the fact that you are asking that online rather than of the prescriber would lead me to believe that either 1) it is NOT prescribed and/or 2) you do not want the prescriber to know how much you are taking. If you had 8 Vicodin or equivalent you are also pushing the tylenol (acetaminophen) to maximum levels you should be taking. The FDA has made 5 mg the recommended dose of Ambien in women;15-20 TOO MUCH.
