I'm : I'm guessing you meant Labetalol it's a very solid medication with a good track record.  But as you point out, almost all medications have risks and benefits and you should have a thorough conversation with your physician to figure out what medication will be best for you.

Assuming you don't have other reasons to be taking a beta blocker, many physicians are happy to prescribe hydrochlorothiazide as a first line agent for blood pressure because it is rather cost effective.  However, since it is a diuretic it will make you go to the bathroom much more than you currently are used to.

It's always correct to discuss the medications your physician wants to prescribe you.  And it's healthy to discuss alternatives, if any, to see if there's a better answer for your problem.

my cardiologist has me taking hydrochlorothiazide 25mg+propranolol 20mg x2 for hbp + pvc the side effects are causing stomach irritation as beta blockers cause me but after changing meds due to side effects i need hope + the right-medications advice?

: Your current antihypertensive regimen is not a preferred one. Other than that, you also have propranolol's side effect so your drug regimen needs to be reassessed. If needed, please get a second opinion or to see an expert in hypertension such as a cardiologist or a nephrologist. Good luck.

Hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) and sodium: Hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) by its mechanism rids the body of sodium  and water  and reduces blood pressure in the process. 

If the craving is really bothersome, check with your doctor and check a sodium level. Its rare, but sometimes hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) can lower your sodium levels too much.
