Get evaluated: Poor performance can be triggered by lack of proper sleep, medical illness, stress  and poor nutrition to name a few issues. Write down the pattern you have experienced, the duration and any other features you recall &amp; take that list in for a medical checkup.

Simple responses: Dementia can be mild, mod or severe.
It means a loss of ability to care for one's self without help due to cognitive losses.
There are over one hundred causes of dementia with Alzheimer's Disease number one.  Stroke, head trauma, B12 and thyroid deficiencies are but a few of the other causes.  Having no family hx of dementia does not make you immune to getting demntia.  Get annual memory checks.

It is a symptom of : Emotional problems. It is an unhealthy way of coping with things like feeling empty, anger, self- punishment ect. If you or someone you know used self -harm please encourage them to looking into dialectical behavior therapy. Help is available.

It is classified as mental illness under cluster b personality disorders.

It's less common than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, but requires the same types of medications:   antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and others. It depends: This isn't exactly a medical question, it's more of a legal or moral one.  But laws in the us generally hold that if a person cannot tell right from wrong due to a mental illness, then they are "not guilty by reason of insanity" (or similar language depending on the state).  Most mental illness is not severe enough to meet this standard, and the "insanity defense" is actually used fairly rarely.
