No: Fasting will not benefit symptoms of crohn's disease.  You can fast from food for varying time periods until you die from starvation.  This is not an effective clinical solution.  Discuss this with your gastroenterologist.

See below: According to the American College of Gastroenterology -just having Crohns disease does not seem to make one more at risk for Covid 19 complications - you may be more at risk if your disease is not controlled- medicines are used to suppress the inflammation in Crohns - many do not seem to increase Covid complications - she should not stop her medications - discuss medication risk with her  doctor

Edema: Crohn' s disease affects the intestines and doesn't usually cause edema of the legs. However if enough malabsorption or malnutrition causes very low serum albumen,  that is one way edema can develop.

If it is refractory and results in bleeding, perforation, stricture, or fails to respond to medical manangment then surgery is available. 50% of patients may require surgery at some time.

Unfortunately your gut is the innocent bystander in this process and sustains anywear from mild to severe damage and prevents it from absorbing nutrition.

Variable: There are many potential "first signs". Weight loss, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, iron deficiency, fatigue, blood in the stool, arthritis, fever. Any of these could be first signs. Its a tricky disease unfortunately.
