Not likely: You can use it to treat tooth infections. Gum disease is better treated by scaling and root planning (deep cleanings), surgery, and good oral hygiene. If an antibiotic is to be used in conjunction it can be applied topically, like arestin,  which is minocicline, or even long term systemic tetracycline.
