Pneumonia: It depends on the type of pneumonia, your age, your general health among other things.  From the time of infection, it could take as little as a day, or as much as  a week or so, for symptoms to appear.

Yes: Although not that simple.  When someone has MRSA pneumonia, the droplets that come out when they cough can contain MRSA.  MRSA is not airborne except in droplets and it doesn't survive long outside.   It is acquired by touching a person or object that has live MRSA bacteria on it.  Hand washing is best for prevention.  the patient with MRSA pneumonia should be isolated and wear a mask.

It is flu season! limit the spread by staying home from work when you are sick and covering your cough.  But some conditions, like chronic bronchitis, are lung problems that can flare or get worse without infection and aren't contagious.
