Yes: Most cases on bilateral pneumonia in children are caused by viruses or bacteria. These organisms can spread through droplets coughed out by the infected child into their surroundings & anyone nearby can inhale those droplets & thus acquire the infection if sufficient number of organisms have entered the lungs to start multiplying in the new host & cause infection.
