A member asked:

Is pneumonia or bronchitis contagious?

3 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Mostly YES: Pneumonia or acute bronchitis are respiratory illnesses caused by viruses or bacteria. Typically these are spread by droplets when an infected individual coughs. It is flu season! limit the spread by staying home from work when you are sick and covering your cough. But some conditions, like chronic bronchitis, are lung problems that can flare or get worse without infection and aren't contagious.
