Both are bad: There appears to be both cognitive and emotional problems with use of marijuana on a consistent basis.  Alcohol abuse is well known to cause a full constellation of disasters.  Minimal use of either is likely relatively safe.  There is no head to head safety study.
Would avoid both until brain is fully developed, about age 25 or 26, myelination of sub frontal cortex.

No need to use these: No herb or medicine is equally good for everyone; most feel good when using marijuana but it makes some anxious; it's also possible what you had was adultered/contaminated as a really bad marijuana experience is uncommon. But you never need to use it again. Alcohol may not cause anything like that but in excess isn't good for anyone.You could try a single serving to see how it feels or just avoid.

Probably not.: Those substances have little in common other than being considered 'bad' by some people.  Medical cannabis is thought to be very helpful for cancer patients in many ways. I've not heard of alcohol's benefits, if any, but no problems either. Relax. Consider asking the oncologist involved for an opinion. Best!

Thc vs alcohol: Yes both alcohol and marijuana are addictive. Often people with underlying conditions such as social phobia, generalized anxiety disorders and panic disorders use alcohol and or marijuana to self treat. Long term use of marijuana has been associated with development of psychosis (paranoia) and frontal lobe syndrome (apathy). Neither are good vices as it reaches addiction consumption.

Consuming too many Marijuana Edibles is linked to Rapid heartrate, memory problems, lung irritation, heart irritation, weakened immune system, psychoses, paranoia.

Lesser evil: One marijuana gummy in a  week would be the lesser of the two evils.  As you conceded, both are bad for you.

Don't know: Abuse of either implies dysfunction in business, personal, or health issues.  I know people like to say how much more unhealthy someone on alchohol may be and often it is true. However,  the intellectual impairment and potential lung/cardiac disease from smoking may be worse for certain people who abuse marijuana.

i recently have lyme disease, affected cerebellum, pots, anterograde amnesia. i've not smoked marijuana anymore because it makes symptoms worse. why?

It depends on...: Marijuana often makes people dazed ; confused ; can reduce short-term memory, but it does not affect everyone this way- it depends on the strain ; how you metabolize it. Lyme can interfere with how your liver processes it, plus your brain is affected by microbial toxins. Short answer: I think you need to find a second opinion quickly. One meds seem too low and the other too high. Furthermore I do not think there can be any recovery till you stop the alcohol and marijuana. Plus no sleep in 48 hrs indicates you still have serious sx.
