Both are bad: There appears to be both cognitive and emotional problems with use of marijuana on a consistent basis. Alcohol abuse is well known to cause a full constellation of disasters. Minimal use of either is likely relatively safe. There is no head to head safety study.
Would avoid both until brain is fully developed, about age 25 or 26, myelination of sub frontal cortex.

It's like asking if it's better to die in a fire or drowning. Both are bad and suck....so neither is correct answer here
