Immunizations: There is a lot of contoversy around vaccines and their possible sequelae and side effects. This has led parents to request alternative immunization schedules. There is no studies that support any of this. Vaccinating your child based on tried and true schedules is the way to go, although I am more flexible than most in responding positivel to parents concerns and requests.

Avoid them: The standard schedule of vaccines is both safe and effective for infants and children. The spacing advised by Playboy bunnies and a few well meaning docs is cruel for no benefit. Good info can be found at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia vaccine information center.

hi dr i had covid omicorn during the holidays december 2021 .i had my first 2 vaccines and tmmr i'm scheduled for my 3rd vaccine .hearing all different scenarios that i shouldn't. is it safe to have my 3rd dose after a month i had covid?

: Yes, it is safe to take the third dose.
Get a flu shot also.

Define safe: Vaccines help a patient develop active antibody protection against illness.To achieve longer term benefit, the full series of the PCV vaccine must be completed or initial benefits wear off.The pneumococcal germ is known to cause blood poisoning, meningitis &amp; other illnesses.They have declined in frequency among vaccinated kids.These diseases are treatable if detected early, but are significant.

is it safe to take a moderna vaccine as a second shot if your first shot was a pfizer covid vaccine. the reason would be shipment delayed and the need to continue to vaccinate 2nd doses to people with out delaying?

: Hard to know. Since this is not the way they were tested/conditionally approved for urgent use it is hard to say this would be safe or a benefit. It might be. It might also be better to wait a few weeks or even months to get the 2nd dose of the same vaccine for long term benefit. Going off the protocol is sometimes risky.

my infant did not get the first dose of the hep b vaccine at birth. we plan to get all other vaccines on schedule at 2 months - would it be okay to delay hep b until later, like once he is one year so one less shot at 2mo? he shouldnt have any risk?

: I would not delay it at all. The kids are just as pissed and recover as fast with one shot or 5. Delaying this or any vaccine to follow the suggestions of celebrities makes no scientific sense and keeps kids at risk. You have no idea what risky encounters will occur in a kids life. You plan for the worst &amp; hope for the best.

Absolutely Not: In fact, current studies demonstrate that not only is there no benefit to delay but the risk of the diseases occurring (pertussis or whooping cough) is statistically higher. Be wise and immunize on time. Remeber these recommendations are based on expert opinions and research. Trust the pediatricians, not the chiropracter or actress.

No, but: It is fine to delay the shot if/when it would interfere with  the other things you have going on. Sometimes we do after asking you about family members on chemo or other issues that would be important.But don't forget the need is still there to get these boosters to keep the kid safe.

Before leave hosp: Make appointments for your first few well-baby checks (including the 2 month visit, when most office vaccine schedules begin), while you're still in the hospital.

In my view, yes: I think that vaccination is very stressful to young children so delay it to about 6 months.
