Generally: ... The shorter the effect, the more addictive the compound is.  Klonopin (clonazepam) has a longer effect than ativan.

Benzodiazapines: One of the issues with Klonopin (clonazepam) is that tolerance can develop.  I try to use Klonopin (clonazepam) as a bridging medication. In other words, i often use it until the effects of another medication (such as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor ) kick in.

No: Klonopin and Xanax (alprazolam) are both benzodiazepines (bzd) as are Valium and ativan. Bzd are very useful for initial treatment of anxiety. Unfortunately, they are also highly addictive and frequently abused because they can cause euphoria. They can also be very sedating. In combination with alcohol or in excess they can be fatal. Xanax (alprazolam) is the most addictive and most often abused.

Not Likely: It is unlikely that one would develop a physical addiction by using such a small dose as described. Having taken the Klonopin (clonazepam) over a six month period, one might develop a psychological dependence. If, after stopping klonopin, (clonazepam) one develops withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, or tremors, discuss with prescribing md. There are always exceptions, so beware of prolonged use.

Medications: Both can lead to tolerance. Both have potential side effects. Ambien (zolpidem) is a sleep medication. Klonopin is an anxiety medicine.

2 wks, roughly: There's no exact answer, as tolerance to benzodiazepine tranquilizers happens gradually.  As a very rough estimate, taking a medication like Clonazepam consistently for longer than 2 weeks usually results in some withdrawal symptoms if stopped suddenly.  It's also dose related, and 0.5 mg daily isn't a lot.  Best to take addiction risk seriously, but try not to stress over it.  Ask your doctor.

I : I don't know any medical provider who would provide information on how to do outpatient self detoxification without knowledge of your medical history or without monitoring. It would be bad medicine  i recommend finding an addiction specialist in your area as well as involvement in narcotics anonymous. I am glad that you want to come off the Clonazepam but you need professional involvement to do so safely. Take care.

A substance or behavior that generates a more than expected reward can lead to incentive sensitization if the person is biologically predisposed to addiction. All drugs in the benzodiazepine family will lead to
 dependence, sooner or later.

For example, a person who used to be an alcoholic or used to abuse drugs, would be much more susceptible to get addicted.
