Assuming: You are in good health otherwise  you might suffer from a low t3/t4 ratio.  Ask dr to measure total t3.  If low, try cytomel, (liothyronine) pure t3.

WHY?: Why do you want to supplement iodine? Excess iodine can lead to thyroid problems in some people, and many people get skin rashes from iodine. There's lots of iodine in your diet, particularly salt and bread.

Needed for thyroid: Iodine is needed for the thyroid gland in the neck to produce a normal amount of thyroid hormone. Lack of iodine causes low (hypo) thyroid hormone, which lowers the heart rate and leads to abnormal blood pressures (bp can be higher or lower than normal). On the other hand, too much thyroid hormone leads to higher heart rates and higher blood pressures.

Small risk: if tack was clean and new... Monitor yourself for any adverse symptoms as well as the area and keep it very clean and protected. If you are concerned be sure to follow up with your doctor right away!

Probably fine: I would verify the kid has his/her tetanus up to date (normally has booster at 4-5) and keep the wound clean.That should be sufficient. Look at it daily to be sure no signs of infection show up.

A waste of time: A low iodine diet has little or no benefit for this disorder. Treat the problem medically, not with diet.

scratched my finger on a metal string of storage box at home.little blood came out.string was kinda rusty but clean.has got tdap vaccines in childhood, last dose more than 10yrs. need a booster for that scratch?cleaned the scratch after with iodine

Some basics: Rust is not the origin of tetanus but the spores of tetanus can be in dust/dirt or anywhere in general. If you cleaned the scratch well you are not likely to get either tetanus or other infection (tetanus starts as an infection). If it has been &gt;10 yrs this can serve as a reminder to get a booster when convenient. Tetanus can start from any break in the skin.

Not TSH: The iodine in contrast media may affect T4 and T3 levels but TSH should not be affected.

raised bump on arm for last couple of weeks. i decided to pop yesterday, blood spewed out everywhere.cleaned with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide&place cotton ball with iodine on it with bandaid. was bigger, popped again today and blood went everywhere.

See dermatologist: this could be nothing serious, but you need to make sure of that. See dermatologist for eval and possible bx.
