Other options includ: You could try some other options.  Two that I have used successfully include Lyrica (pregabalin) which is similar to gabapentin, but is a newer generation.  Older drugs such as amitryptyline ; nortriptyline may also help.

Probably not: Nerve blocks may help if large nerve roots are inflamed or injured. Typically they are used for a person with back pain when there is bone fide pressure on a nerve. Even in these situations many people do not have significant (&gt; 50%) or sustained (&gt; 3 months) relief of pain. 
I agree that medications have some side effects.
Active physical/mental activity can
distract your brain from nerve pain.

Good nutrition!: Inulins are a group of natural polysaccharides produced by many types of plants. They belong to a class of dietary fibers known as fructans. Inulin is used by some plants as a means of storing energy. Most plants that synthesize and store inulin do not store starch. Due to the body's limited ability to process fructans, inulin has minimal impact on blood sugar making it suitable for diabetics.

is inulin safe during pregnancy?  i've been taking it in the form of metamucil (not the same as psyllium though).  i've read that it's a vegetable fiber but just wanted to be sure it's safe.  i'm in my 3rd trimester.

AS LONG AS IT IS: A non absorbable compund(which it is) and it is not used in excess, it should be fine.

ive been using valsartan for hypertension reasons but had to stop because it causes me epididymitis, now i use  atorvastatin and its giving me vivid dreams. is there anything better i can use with less side effects ?

Medication : You can speak to a doctor about changing your medication. I remember and a patient who had 20 medications on her allergy list, but when you continue to ask her details about the side effects you come to realize she did not want any medication because she believed that all medication is bad for her.  Sometimes patients express concerns indirectly

: This type of steroid treatment can give a patient an appetite increase. It is not the type of steroid that would interfere with menses. Long term side effects of steroids depend on dosing &amp; frequency and rarely are features of sporadic use.
