Women often have atypical symptoms of heart disease including pain in the jaw. It would be prudent to consult your doctor at the earliest.

Jaw pain: It is most likely TM joint arthritis. This can be due to many causes. Malocclusion of the teeth can lead to this. Try eating soft foods for a week or two and see if it improves.

Not Ice but heat: Jaw joint pain may be related to either true inflammation of the jaw joint or more commonly muscle spasm of the jaw muscles. I would recommend heat (heating pad) and an analgesic such as asa, Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen). Seeing your dentist or oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis is paramount.

Please elaborate: Is the pain in the joint (TMJ) or in the actual body of the jaw? Many conditions can cause this problem, including grinding your teeth, clenching, an abscess, an impacted tooth, etc. Can't diagnose correctly over the internet... You need to make an appointment with a local dentist.

Icing for pain: There is ordinarily no problem with the skin when you are icing a joint for pain.  I typically recommend using a bag of frozen peas or corn or a gel ice pack made especially for molding to the skin.  Try and limit the icing to 10 minutes out of each hour.

See dentist: There are several things that can be going on and  you should see a dentist for an exam.  But ibuprophen  and using ice on you jaw can give you some relief until you get to, the dentist.

Start with a general dentist for a thorough exam and cleaning, and next an orthodontist. If needed, you will be referred to an oral surgeon if your jaw issue is skeletal in nature.
