is it safe to take lansoprazole (15mg), citalopram (10mg) and quetiapine (25mg) together, specifically regarding prolonged qt?

i'm 30 m and my baseline qt is 440. i've been on ppi long term.

Pharmacist: This is a very important question for you as if your corrected qt interval is prolonged, you must avoid many medications that can further prolong that interval and make you prone to potentially dangerous ventricular irritability. Your best bet is to get advice about your medications from your pharmacist who has complete access to information about drug interactions and their effect on qt interval

i started taking plavix once a day and i also take prevacid (lansoprazole) and on occasion prilosec. is there any interactions with these drugs?

Absolutely: There is a well know interaction between plavix and proton pump inhibitors.  Plavix is a prodrug(inactive) and is activated in the liver.  This process of activation is blocked by proton oump inhibitors.  Specifically with nexium and prilosec, also somewhat with other ppis.  The only one safe to use is dexilant (dexlansoprazole) and possibly protonix. Or change plavix to effient or brilinta under guidance of MD

Doubt it!!: You are talking about the ingredient in the fiber laxatives like metamucil and a bunch of others. I don't know of any interaction they can have with Celexa (citalopram) or any other antidepressant.

Can't oblige you: Celexa (citalopram) & Baclofen used together can cause excessive or prolonged central nervous system and respiratory depression. Also, recently reports on higher doses of Celexa (citalopram) noted possible irregular heart rhythms. If you are taking any other meds, there may other significant interactions. Sorry we can't provide you with the info you'd like to hear.

Drug interactions: A search for drug interactions on Epocrates indicates that these two medicines can cause a cumulative psychomotor impairment (additive effects) or CNS depression (sedation). Check with the prescribing MD to make sure these two drugs being used together was intended. Every time you take a new medicine, you can speak with your pharmacist about how to take it, and anyone can use epocrates.

: No significant drug interactions,  but remember both can cause drowsiness which can be amplified by taking both. Would not drive or operate dangerous machines while under the influence.

Do not recommend: use of alcohol with  any  SSRI medication to include celexa. They can interact.

are lexapro/celexa/viibryd the cleanest ssri's available..i.e the least interactions?

Accepted Answer

Especially: Celexa and lexapro. Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) can interact with drugs that are metabolized through the cytochrome p450 3a4 enzyme system so a little bit more caution has to be taken with that and should be addressed with your psychiatrist.
