Smoking (also in habitual smokers) acutely impairs Insulin action and leads to Insulin resistance.

Yes: It's infrequent but it is possible.  One way to know is to ask your doctor to switch you to an equivalent Insulin (humalog, apidra) and see if the reactions on NovoLog disappear.

Insulin bumps: AlyxF ~ the bump is body reaction to a foreign material being injected into same place. Fibrous tissue cause bump and less absorption, so rotate injection site to prevent. Ports are used for continuous infusion pumps and are directly into the vein. Not used for IM or SC shots thanks

Insulin: Insulin levels vary widely over course of mere hours.  insulin does not accumulate in the body.  Tumors of the pancreas can produce excess insulin but are very rare. In general measuring insulin levels is fraught with difficulty and should be done and interpreted by an endocrinologist or someone with advanced training in diabetes.  Treatment of high levels would be to treat the underlying cause.

: The normal level for fasting is  3–25 uIU/mL.  I think your units in your question is acutally micro-IU/ml which is the same. So no concern.

Depends: Hi. No way to tell. Are you a type 1 or a type 2? What's your normal Lantus (insulin glargine) dose? If you made a grievous dosing error, go to the ER (drinking juice on the way), so they can have an IV in you and be prepared for a crash.  I have type 2's who use Lantus (insulin glargine) 300-400 units/day; 140 units wouldn't kill them. I have type 1's using 16 units/day; 140 units would mess them up pretty badly. Be safe.

Not true: No- multiple medications are avaialble to control high blood sugars.

Dose adjustment: People's Insulin requirements vary. Some people respond to very low doses, some people need hundreds of units a day. She needs her doses adjusted.

Indeed...: Yes, indeed this means your likely a person with type 1 diabetes.  Your C-peptide is extremely low.
