what should i use as pain relief on my throat ulcer?

Throat pain: There are several ways to treat a sore throat- salt water gargles, listerine zero rinses, cepacol rinses- all over the counter oral rinses that will assist with keeping the area clean and assist in promoting healing. Motrin  can assist, to coat the ulcer, a cocktail of maalox and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with or without some lido swish and spit can cover the sore so you can eat and swallow. Dds/md rx needed.

You should see a Dr.: You should see a doctor to get full treatment and find out the cause.  Depending on your age, this might be oral cancer.  Oral cancer usually presents by 50 years of age, and in the form of non-healing ulcers that can be painful.  It is caused most by alcohol and tobacco use, including smoking and chewing/smokeless tobacco.  The doctor can give you pain meds. And also find the cause of this.

Oxycodone: Roxicodone (oxycodone) is another brand name for semisynthetic narcotic. Your gastroenterologist knows the severity of your gastric ulcers and other medications you are taking. This physician should make recommendation what pain killers will do less harm.

how long is it safe to use norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) for pain relief? i've had excruciating pain from mouth ulcer on back of tongue for a while, doc prescribed norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen).

Pain: Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) should only be used for short term pain relief.  I would say 4 to 5 days max. How long have you had this pain? Was it an MD or DDS that looked at the sore and gave you the Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen)?  Mouth ulcers should heal within 7 to 10 days and rarely are they painful enough to take strong narcotics. I would recommend that you see your dentist.

Yes: If the part you're biting is the 'wet' part of your lip, try hloraseptic liquid. If on the 'dry' part, use benzocaine cream or ointment
See your dentist for a night splint which will keep you from biting your lip in the first place.

See your doctor: See your doctor.  He/she will listen to you, examine you and possibly do some tests.  He/she will probably prescribe medication for pain, physical therapy for exercises and stretching and possibly a referral for surgical intervention.

Flatulence: Gas (flatulence or bleching) is a nonspecific symptom and could be due to many things- not necessarily an ulcer. If the ulcer turns out the problem, you want to have it treated and that's usually with antacids and sometimes triple therapy if tests positive of H. pylori. To help you better, more history should be taken first.
