i have been on warfarin since 2006. recently i've had inr results above 8.0 more than once. i've not changed my diet or dosage . i've always been therapeutic on current dosage until recently. what can the causes be for such elevated results ?

: There are many factors that can affect the Warfarin level. It could be that your body is simply metabolizing the medicine differently and so your level went up. The dose will need to be adjusted once your INR is where it should be. Follow up with your doctor for instructions and for dose adjustment. Good luck to you!

No: There really is no reason why an inr level would cause fatigue.

i just got an inr result of 1.0 on today's b/w. everything indicates this is normal, but the lab issued notes about increased risk of thrombosis, and numbers in ranges of 2-3, and 2.5-3.5. is a 1.0 normal? thank you for answering my question?

: Yes 1.0 is normal for individuals not on anticoagulation, commonly Coumadin. The range of 2-3 is provided as the goal for patients on anticoagulation.

Yes: But don't confuse "normal" with "therapeutic."  if you are on blood thinners, then the goal would be for the inr to go up.

Yes,,,: Because of your family history and your own conditions of high cholesterol, cpap, and arrhythmia, you should be concerned here.  The pt and inr are low normal to slightly below normal which means you clot quick and might be some issue due to the arrhythmia, but it's the family history and high cholesterol that points to a likely future event, so see your dr. To get those conditions under control.

: Your PT is normal and your PTT, while slightly high, is normally not considered to be in the clinically suspicious range. If these were just routine screening tests (for instance preoperatively) then they are normal. Otherwise they need to interpreted in the context of the entire clinical picture.

i had blood test & the results are  as follows inr 1.12 
aptt ratio 1.16 
beta-2 microglobulin 1.50mg/l. can you tell me if they are normal?

More info needed: Unless you are on coumadin, (warfarin) the INR which is normal, does not matter.  The PT is not documented and the APTT does not have a result listed.  The beta 2-microglob
ranges are laboratory specific and your doctor who ordered the test should be able to better advise you.

my pt is 12.7 and pt inr is 1.0. a day before the test i took 2 low doze aspirin pills (81 each). how aspirin influenced the result and would it still be normal if i did not take aspirin which i do not take regularly. thanks?

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results are not a cause for concern. Aspirin does not affect these tests.

i donated blood a week ago. i am getting an lft test (bilirubin, inr, albumin) tomorrow. will the loss of blood affect my results?
