Turn off stove/oven: If you smell gas &amp; you know that you turned on stove/oven, turn it off &amp; open some windows. As long as smell dissipates, you're probably fine. i accidentally preheated the oven with about 8 nonstick pans to 450. i inhaled the fumes for a couple mins, taking them out, how dangerous is this?

It's not: This is a common household exposure and you should be fine.

i turned on my gas oven.when the pilot came on, i think i breathed in the puff of gas smell that comes out.(tasted it). could i b ok? how bad is that?

Gas fumes: You do not have to worry.  The bad smell in the gas is put in there so you can smell it.  Once you recognize it you will avoid it.  You did not get exposed to enough to cause any problems.  Do not worry. You will be fine.  Just make sure your gas knob is turned completely off on the stove at all times.  Your pilot light should be functioning well, if not get it checked.  Good luck!

my son was cooking pizza in the oven and its burning. my whole kitchen is full of smoke. can we get smoke inhalation from breathing it in from the burnt pizza on the bottom of the stove. could see the smoke coming from inside of the oven?

: If you did not get any immediate symptoms like choking, cough, shortness of breath, do not be concerned with a little smoke inhalation.

after cleaning all day with exit mould and oven cleaner which was inhaled i now have severe head ache and feel nauseous and light headed, do i need to?

Well: If you live in a decent climate go outside for a while at get away from the fumes and inhale some fresh air. Then see how you feel

i accidentally inhaled steam when opening my oven which was set to 450 degrees f. im having throat and chest pain but no breathing difficulties currently. do you think a visit to the er is necessary? is it safe to sleep post-injury?

: The damage of superheated air, like those afflicted in house fires has a rapid onset. If you are not facing difficulty breathing it is most likely any injury was minor and your body has compensated well. By a few hours after exposure if you have not developed more than the symptoms mentioned, it is doubtful an ER visit would be worth the effort. Sleep would be fine. The body wakes you for trouble.

That is unusual...: In medicine, some weird reaction/effect can happen with almost anything. Inhalers to treat asthma/copd/wheezing etc...can cause many side effects--increase heart rate/palpitation, jitteriness, sorethroat, thrush, dry mouth, altered tastes, headaches, at times more difficulty with breathing, higher risk of infections etc... if stopping the inhaler and gas problem resolves, then likely. Not necessarily: There are very few such chemicals -in gases hat can cause cancer. So i would not worry about so many gases which we are commonly exposed to. Just avoid excessive exposure to perochemicals (and of course the old culprits like chemical-war gases).

Avoid this.: Most stoves burn natural gas (methane), but some burn propane.  Breathing either kind of gas is unhealthy, because it lowers the amount of oxygen which is being inhaled.   A few moments of exposure in a well-ventilated room is not an issue, but prolonged exposure (as you described) should be avoided.  However, the symptoms are usually immediate, not delayed.
