A few possibilities: The lack of a lump does not rule out a hernia, since women also are at risk for a femoral hernia, which does not present as a typical lump in the groin area. Alarm signs to check: Fleeting recurrent abdominal discomfort as described is best addressed by first addressing accompanying signs/symptoms that may localize the organ involved: vaginal discharge or bleeding, alteration in periods, pregnancy risk? Fever, nausea, vomiting, altered stool pattern, blood with stool, tenderness, distension? Painful urination, blood in urine?  Recent trauma, herniations? Age? Gender? Risks?

Talk to your doctor: That pain could be caused by a number of things. However, at your age, the most likely reason could be intermittent compression of a branch of the sciatic nerve on that side. You should be examined first, and if your doctor feels that nerve compression could be there, an MRI could be helpful. If there is a disc herniation, and the pain is persistent and severe, an epidural injection could help.

See your surgeon: You need to check with your surgeon ,to find out why you are having this kind of pain, and check about the viability of your testicles, after the surgery,
You are 20 years old, so did you have a torsion or you had undescended testicles for the orchiopexy.
You need to have evaluation yearly with a urologist without any exception, because you are a high risk for testicular cancer.

Hip pain : The hysterectomy probably is unrelated to your hip and thigh pain.  If your ovaries were removed, get an exam to determine if you might have a blood clot in your left leg, and if not, an ultrasound may reveal a left ovarian cyst.

i had a lifting accident 4 years ago. too much weight was lifted and my left side groin felt shooting pain. i went to several different doctors and every diagnosis for suspected hernia was negative. i now know some muscle(s) have clamped down. help!
