how to get rid of ingrown hair from under a scab?

Extraction: It is difficult to remove an ingrown hair since the crust must be removed and the the hair extracted.  It is difficult to do this on yourself as you can cause infection and scarring.  See your dermatologist.

i had what i thought was an ingrown hair on my chest and picked at it, that was a year an a half ago, it still scabs up, any idea? about once a week i pick at it and peel off a piece of skin, can't find hair or any puss in it, and it wont go away

Likely genital wart: Cauliflower looking bumps on the penile shaft usually represent warts caused by one of several strains of HPV. If so you are in the initial contagious stage &amp; can pass it to sexual contacts. These general disappear by 2 yrs after initial infection but are often removed by laser/freezing/application of medication. I would seek confirmation &amp; treatment. These can grow quite large.

: You probably had a small abscess on the apparently you developed a small abscess of the penis that should improve  now that it has opened and drained. This may have been due to a small cyst or even infected hair as you mentioned. Unclear how you developed this abscess. It should resolve by itself. If it doesn’t get better you may need antibiotics or a procedure

Need diagnosis: It sounds like you may have folliculitis. Avoid self treating or picking at the area. Let an Obgyn see the area. Until an accurate diagnosis is made we can not recommend treatment.

See a Psychiatrist to help you discontinue your pernicious skin damaging habit and help you get your life in order. See a Dentist to Rx your fungal oral infection. Being achey/tired may be result of your body trying to fight multiple infections. Please, you can't do this yourself. Get help.

for the last year ive had these scabs only on my stomach and buttocks, the first dermatologist i saw said it was ingrown hairs that i probably scratched so hard it created a scab. that answer doesnt sit well with me?

: Are the scabs itchy? Worse at night?  May be scabies ( can be treated with  Permethrin)At any point where there blisters? May be dermatitis herpetiformis which can be related  to gluten sensitivity,. or Linear IgA disease an autoimmune disease or rarely eczema ( less likely location), or folliculitis, or hidradenitis suppurativa(rare)   or  ingrown hair .A biopsy may help. f/u/w/ dermatology

Your physician can prescribe medication to clear dead skin cells  (retinoids). Steroids may be used for significant inflammation &amp; antibiotics may be considered if the area has become infected.
