Neither: Skin tag (medical term is acrochordon) is a small benign tumor that forms primarily in areas where the skin forms creases, such as the neck, armpit, and groin. They may also occur on the face, usually on the eyelids. Acrochorda are harmless and typically painless, and do not grow or change over time.

i have a lump under my skin near my vagina. it isnt painful but im scared. what is it? is it a cyst, cancer, or ingrown hair.

Probably benign: If it is outside of vagina is probably an inclusion cyst, May be  related to shaving if that is part of your routine.
If lump protrudes into vagina maybe Bartholin  cyst

: These are often minor pustules that arise when skin germs invade sweat pores or hair roots. Local lymph glands can also become infected the same way. A warm compress several times a day can often allow improved blood flow that promotes self- healing. I have never heard or read of a case like this that was cancer.

Do not be misled!: Any lump which is growing can be cancerous...So it needs to be checked by a doctor unless you are sure what you are dealing with. There is nothing clear cut about a ingrown hair lump...I do not know what it is, so, if you have a lump, either it is benign or cancerous. Benign lumps are temporary( a few exceptions) and they do not grow steadily. They are often due to infections(painful) or a lipoma.

how to differentiate between an ingrown hair, razor bump, cancer, or lymph node?

Ask your doctor: A superficial lump in an area in which you shave is most likely an inflammatory reaction to the irritation from shaving, or from a blocked hair follicle.  Cancer is unlikely, and lymph nodes are not superficial.  Also ingrown hairs and razor bumps likely come on quickly and will go away if you leave them alone, but a cancer won't.  See a dermatologist for proper diagnosis.

Hair Dye: Skin and other allergic reactions pose the biggest risk to hair dye users. It's difficult to say how many hair dye users suffer from allergic reactions, as most do not seek medical attention.

Need exam: The patch may be harmless, but a dermatologist (skin doctor) should look at it to determine why it is spreading.  It is not likely to be cancer, but it could be.  In any case, it might need attention now.

Sometimes: Skin cancers most often develop on areas of sun-exposed skin including the scalp, face, lips, ears, neck, chest, arms, dorsum(top) of hands, and legs.  However they can form in areas that are rarely sun-exposed such as the palms, fingernail/toenail beds, and even the genitals.  Not all skin changes are due to skin cancer.  A physician can check any skin changes that worry you and make suggestions.

No.: Hair growth is not affected by localized skin cancer. Though, patients can lose hair if they are getting chemotherapy for certain types of cancer.

All sun exposure wil: All sun exposure will increase your risk of skin cancer. Using sun block is better than not. Avoid sun burns, burns are directly related to melanoma.
