Wash hands.: Assuming some sort of incision was made during the surgery, the most basic thing you can do is make sure you and whoever is taking care of you washes their hands frequently and thoroughly.  What we don't want happening is to have any germs get into those incisions and cause bad things to happen.  Also listen to your doctor's advice about physical therapy and avoiding tobacco.

my body temp is always 35 to 35.7 celsius rarely goes above 36. should i be concerned? i have an infection after surgery at the moment and i'm concerned about keeping an eye on it as what is to low when that's my normal?

: Measuring body temperature can be difficult at times, and a measure body temperature of 35°C can be normal. I would only be concerned if your temperature goes significantly outside of your normal range. If that occurs, contact your doctor. Good luck.

 infection requires drainage and/or antibiotics. See the surgeon that did it.

i got a yeast infection after surgery. my doctor gave me anti-fungal cream for my vagina and butt. how close to those areas can i apply the ointment?

Don't worry.: If the infection is on the mucous membranes (i.e. "inside"), you can apply it to all of those areas, because those creams are designed to be applied there. If the rash is on regular skin surrounding the vagina & anus, you can go right up to the vaginal & anal openings, but not inside, which might cause irritation and itching.

Pain: Bone infections are localized processes which cause pain to area effected.  This weahens the bone causing pain at the site of infection. Usually pain worsens with weight bearing or fracture develops.

Infection: Staph infection after surgery is a major conrn especially after joint surgery.  Staph pneumonia is always possible after any surgery.

Depends: If this was a skin only infection it will probably not cause any more problems.  If the deep tissue (fascia) was infected it's possible you could end up with a hernia down the line.  If the infection was in the abdomen, abdominal adhesions and small bowel obstruction are a risk, but not guaranteed problem.

what can i do to treat a wound infection after back surgery?

See your surgeon: Depending on how deep the wound infection is, you may just need oral antibiotics (for a superficial infection) to open debridement of infected tissue if the infection is deeper in, with IV antibiotics.  Let your surgeon evaluate it and make the assessment.
