Elevation: it sounds like you may be doing too much with your hand. Keep it elevated to your heart level, and exrcise fingers gently, but do not strain. If the incision is opening, it may be swollen because of keeping hand too low. You should call your surgeon.

make sure the problem is at the carpal tunnel. Then define the cause, including metabolic problems (diabetes, thyroid or other). Then plan treatment, sometimes with splints at night, and changed ergonomics and exercises in the day. If exercises make symptoms worse, stop.

Move fingers: The most important excerise is to move your fingers. Make a tight fist hold it for 5 seconds and then bring your fingers all the way straight and hold it for 5 seconds. Typically no strengthening excersises are required your strength will return as the sorness resolves.
