Possibly: Studies show that MMR in a single dose is effective in protecting 80% with a second dose, usually given here at 4-5 bring that protection up to 95%. MMR does not protect against chickenpox, although a vaccine is available. Rashes are common to many viral illnesses, not just the ones in the vaccine. If there are many unimmunized kids in the region the chances of getting such CHD increases.

No: If you have had wild chickenpox, there is no need for the primary or booster varicella vaccine.There is a blood test that could provide proof of your varicella status. It would also not hurt you if you received a second vaccine.

Generally, : Generally, if a child has already had the chicken pox, then he does not need the varicella vaccine.  Usually, having the disease once is sufficient for immunity against future infections.  However, the school may be suggesting vaccination after lost records because it won't hurt him to receive an extra vaccination.  The center for disease control recommends that if the immunization status of a child is unknown, the safest thing is to vaccinate them since extra vaccinations will not cause any harm.

There is a blood test available that can check whether he has immunity from his previous infections which is another option to consider.  Many health providers, however, will opt to vaccinate since giving the vaccine will not hurt and is cheaper than the blood test.  Good luck!

Depends: A single dose in childhood protects about 85% of recipients while 2 doses at least a month apart brings it up to ~95%. Rarely, one could still get it but the partial protection provided by the vaccine series (2) would decrease the risks of a hard case marked by chickenpox pneumonia or other major complications.

Depends on take: The vaccine for chickenpox was developed in the late 70's in japan and adopted for use in the us after lengthy review by the fda in the 90's. The present schedule of 2 doses in is thought to effect a perminent although possibly partial benefit in >90%. Mild cases are occasionally seen in vaccinated kids, but deaths have dropped from ~50/yr to zero since general use became the rule.

Maybe: I find calamine excessively drying &amp; stinky &amp; never use it. It takes 5-7 days for most CP lesions to dry regardless of what you use. The primary goal is to keep the sites clean &amp; observe for possible invasion/infection by simple skin germs. As long as the sites are free from localized infection I would manage this at home. A visit just exposes more kids/adults to active disease.

Yes, if dx correct: Having chicken pox confers immunity, yes. The problem is that other rashes resemble chicken pox. Was the diagnosis was made by a dermatologist or pediatrician, or by somebody's aunt sadie? If it's important to know for sure, your doctor can order a varicella titer, which will tell you if you have antibodies to the virus in your blood.
